If people want to use fewer plastic bags, here’s one way. When you buy a gallon of milk at a market, the store usually bags it for you. But really, why do you need it bagged, since it already has a handle? It’s actually good exercise to carry it by its handle, rather than in a bag. DAVID SILVA When I was very little, I used to love to watch my mother make coffee. Mom made her coffee the old fashioned way. She’d plop a cup or so of ground coffee into a small pot of water, then put the pot on a burner. I recently came up with a new idea for exercise that others might enjoy. I happen to love drinking milk, and I usually have a couple of gallons in the fridge. It occurred to me that since the gallon containers have handles, I could use them to exercise my arms with the milk in them. I just take one container in each hand and start moving them around, making big circles with my arms, lifting them over my head, etc. Farid and plenty of other children received free milkshakes, created milky moustaches and posed for photos while learning about the nutritional value of milk during the event at the Americana at Brand. Event sponsors emphasized their message that milk is rich in nutrients, and that many Americans, from growing children to women over 40, would benefit from adding more dairy to their diet.
